Now Haider Ackermann has somehow become one of fashion’s most recent darlings. Karl Lagerfeld mumbles about having Ackermann take the reigns at Chanel when the Kaiser retires. Vogue covers him religiously. Some of my fellow show goers became over come with their emotions and started crying last season. Personally, I think he makes pretty clothes but it’s more in a Dries Van Noten vibe than Chanel (a holy church of fashion in my eyes). My only challenge with good ol Haider is the fact that most of the looks are unwearable. Like the tops are just a swatch of sheer chiffon. While the trousers and slippers are heaven, I am kinda like, wears the top dude? I can’t see the woman because no woman would ever hang out without a shirt, unless you were in a topless bar and those girls aren’t into Haider Ackermann, I promise. All that being said, I really like a lot of the individual pieces in the collection, And he cuts a killer jacket. And when he does actually drape a dress in some delicious silk, they are to die for! I love his sense of man meets woman and haphazard styling. This season I started to sit up and pay attention about look 22. Skinny, shiny silk trousers with nipped in waist gorgeous tailored jackets in heavenly colors. And the draping on the dresses? LUV. Take away the geisha style obi leather belts and forget about the couple of looks with so much fabric you have too much shape, and you got yourself a wearable gorgeous collection. Go on Haider, we are watching you…in like an excited to see what you do way.
