So I have a sick, sick, sick fetish when it comes to Hermes. A crazy, shop-a-holic high that only occurs when I enter Hermes, Alaia, Vuitton or Chanel. But it is def the worst at Hermes. While I was never a fan of Jean Paul Gaultier’s take on Hermes, I was a super huge fan of Margiela’s vision of this legendary french house. And now that leaves us with the current designer at helm, Christophe Lemaire. I was never a fan of his work at Lacoste and his self named collection doesn’t blow me over either. But from his first collection with Hermes, I sat up and started paying attention to him. These are chic clothes for very chic and sophisticated women (duh, it’s Hermes, right?). But it looks easy (my word of the season) and comfortable, not stuffy or old lady like luxury women’s clothes can tend to be. “A city dwelling bohemian-tinged late 1970’s/early 80’s” reference was cited, I also saw quite a bit of chic Clint Eastwood/True Grit hints up in here. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking. What I do know is look after look, I want everything. The capes, the dresses and boots, all of it. And thank you Mr. Lemaire for showing older women on the runway. It’s refreshing to see “real” women among the girls that model clothes these days.
WANT: Every single fringe-y cape and dress, every boot, black leather shirt and trouser with the oversized blue coat (SWOONING!!), long brown leather dress with a half seen belt… ok, stopping this list now b/c I will name everything.
