Giles Deacon has a very special knack for designing clothes that always have that Lady Gone Wrong element. His sense of humor and talent for outrageous prints lend a newness to the classic womanly shapes Giles creates. He also is the king of the chic tee shirt dress. For this resort collection, Mr. Deacon takes us on a 90’s rave acid trip through a classic Evelyn Waugh novel and one of my favorite TV series from 1981 Brideshead Revisited. I love it when Giles riffs on classic English motifs, this time updating it via playful drawings and sporty club kid accents. At the end of the day, these are the kinds of clothes I love to wear on the days when I don’t mind being noticed. These clothes aren’t for any shrinking violets. One of the aspects of Giles’s collections that I always appreciate is that the clothes are fun and womanly (cinched waists or short-ish hems) without being slutty or vulgar. He has a unique perspective on women, combining humor, lady-like silhouettes and sarcastic references in the best of ways. Ok, I will stop gushing now.
