So after a year of awesome learning with For Those Who Notice, I have decided to retire the site and move all my blogging to www.sallylyndley.com. After thinking more about what I want to do on the internet for fashion reporting and personal style encouragement, I felt like it made much more sense to blog under my own name instead of a cryptic site like FTWN. It’s been a great year, and I hope you guys will follow me over to my new website for more of my perspective on fashion.

Gift of the Day: Diptyque Tuberose Mega Candle

I have a diptyque problem… AKA I buy about three candles a month from them. And have been obsessed with their personal fragrance line as of late too. Answering my wishes for a Diptyque MEGA candle, the chi chi French candle company released this 5 wick, 1500 gram, 150 hour burning dream come true sometime last year. Last Victoria Beckham presentation I went to, these suckers were a flame all of the studio in the delicious Feau Des Bois (burning wood) flavor, so awesome for winter time. My personal fave is Tuberose. So get you some!

Love Advent Calendar is BAAACCCCKKKK!

Got the announcement this morning from the super awesome Mandi’s Basement (probs my fave PR co in the whole wide world) that LOVE Magazine is launching their Christmas Advent Calendar tomorrow!!! Hoorah! I styled a couple, like last year and it was so super fun and hilarious. Nothing better than super models bounding around in santa gear! See this release from Mandi today:

Celebrate Christmas with a host of LOVE’s festive friends in a video advent calendar launching tomorrow, Saturday 1 December.

Taking turn each day to make a Christmas wish, are: Abbey Clancy, Cara Delevingne, Daisy Lowe, Dree Hemingway, Edie Campbell, Eliza Cummings, Jessica Hart, Jessica Stam, Karlie Kloss, Kelly Brook – even boyfriend Thom Evans is making an appearance – Liberty Ross, Lily Donaldson, Pixie Geldof, and Tallulah Harlech, amongst others.

Katie Grand, Editor-in-Chief, LOVE, says: ”It’s been super fun working on the LOVE advent calendar again. We had such amazing figures last year with some girls getting up to a million hits for their festive frolicking. I mean, who doesn’t want to see Cara on roller skates?”

Gift of the Day: Tim Barber Print from Exhibition A

One of my favorite gifts to give and to receive for the holidays is art. Now this can get mighty expensive but luckily now there’s this awesome art site called Exhibition A that I am obsessed with… When I am buying gifts for my clients (most of whom already have everything they’re little hearts desire), art prints are a great present. I pick prints for them that I think would suit their tastes and that I like too. So everybody’s happy. And this is also the kind of thing people don’t necessarily buy for themselves. One of my favorites from the store on Exhibition A right now is this Tim Barber Photo Print of a pink hair girl overlooking Central Park. I love it partly because her hair is pink and I wish I could dye mine pink and because it’s of my favorite park in the world. Exhibition A is also super reasonable on the pricing with most of the prints under $500. Now go get you some art!

Alex Wang for Balenciaga

So his name has been in the running for the Balenciaga house since Nicholas Ghesquire threw in the towel last month, and now it seems that Alexander Wang will in fact be going to Balenciaga. According to Cathy Horyn’s blog on New Times’ website, Wang’s appointment could be announced as early as next week. Out of the original list of contenders (Alturzarra, Proenza Schouler, Christopher Kane and Alexander Wang), Mr. Wang makes the most sense to me based on the fact that PPR has sited wanting a more commercial designer. Alexander Wang’s business is far more lucrative than any of the other designers who were in the running, and he has captured a young, cool audience for his collections. My main concern? Wang is accustomed to selling at contemporary price points and his clothes are manufactured in China. He also has made his name with new takes on simple sporty clothes such as hoodies and tee shirts. How will his expertise and design sense transfer to a one-time couture house such as Balenciaga? I am a fan of Mr. Wang and but loads of his clothing, so naturally I would be stoked to see what he creates for this legendary paris design house. TEAM ALEX!

UPDATE: He got the job! Wahoo! Looking forward to seeing what he does for this house of awesomeness.

My favorite designer, Rei Kawakubo of Comme Des Garcons, is teaming up with one of my favorite fashion houses, Hermes, to bring us a collection of silk scarves next year. OMG!!! I am like super freaking out. I am calling my local Hermes sales lady to put me on the list for a couple of those suckers now! Archive gold right there!

XRAY Specs: Miu Miu Optical Glasses

I still wear glasses so I am always on the look out for killer frames. Currently I am rocking a pair of Tom Ford Bachardy sunnies I had converted into optical, and I am also collecting vintage B&L Wayfarers circa 1965. But these Miu Miu numbers are my latest obsession. They look a lot like the 50/60′s wayfarers but with the Miuccia Prada edge. The black “frame” is the same piece as the lens, with a cut off chop element at the bottom of the frame. So freakin cool…
